  • One home remedy that can help in the problem is through a mixture of baking soda or table salt and a small amount of turmeric.  Massage this on the affected are atleast twice daily using your finger or through a clean cotton swab.  Doing this can help you increase the blood circulation in the area.
  • With a glass of warm water, add a quarter teaspoon of salt and gargle it. Gargle every two hours to provide relief and help in killing the bacteria which causes the problem.
  • Apply a few drops of clove oil to the area of concern using a clean cotton swab.
  • Chamomile and peppermint herbs are also helpful in soothing aching gums because of their anti-bacterial properties.
  • The condition usually occurs as a result of poor oral hygiene which is why brushing and flossing regularly can help in eliminating the incidence of the problem.  Moreover, choose a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid damaging your gums more.
  • Nutrient deficiency can also be blamed as to why the gums swell.  Have the right intake of Vitamin D; Vitamin C, Niacin, and Vitamin B.  In addition, eat a healthy diet which is rich in the said vitamins.
  • Stay away from the risk factors that can predispose you to a lot of gum diseases.  Cease smoking if you are as you are more likely to develop swollen gums.  Talk with your doctor about certain medical treatment that can cause your gums to swell.
