Here’s some first aid for vomiting and diarrhea which you can be administered at home.

First Aid for Vomiting and Diarrhea

  1. Avoid eating for the first two hours after the vomiting episodes thus allowing your queasy stomach to recover.  Once the two hours has passed, take small sips of water.  Avoid drinking too fast as doing so can provoke nausea.  You can also drink other liquid sources such as sports drink (e.g. Gatorade, Pedialyte) to be bring back the lost electrolytes from the episodes of vomiting and diarrhea.
  2. Stick to soft-diet such as gelatin since it consists mainly of water. Moreover, this can help in rehydration of the body.
  3. For the elders, take over the counter medication such as antiemetic and antidiarrheal meds to provide relief from the situation.
  4. Avoid caffeine, tea, and soda as they can increase the frequency of urination more thus posing greater risk of dehydration.

These are some of the first aid for vomiting and diarrhea.  Mild cases may be treated at home so there isn’t much need for CPR from a first aid responder. However, should shock occur and symptoms worsen, medical attention should be sought immediately. Prevention shouldn’t be overlooked by following some clean ways of cooking to avoid poisoning and a lot more.  Finally, this may be characterized with vomiting often and green stools for diarrhea and the patient must feel discomfort, so make sure to help the person feel comfortable as possible as well as to help him clean himself up often.  Take care!
