It has Boracay, Bohol, Davao City, Baguio City, and Palawan, to mention some of its gems. At the northern part of the country lies a paradise, the province of Ilocos Norte. It is a small province but very rich in culture, natural resources, and traditions. This is the reason why the tourism industry is gaining progress.

Major Attractions in Ilocos Norte

If you haven’t explored it yet, then it’s time for you to know the beautiful sceneries in Ilocos Norte. These include the following:

  • Pagudpud: This place in the northern part of the province has splendid and placid beaches. This is actually called the Boracay of the North because of the white sand beaches. The beaches are not crowded and exploited so if you are looking for tranquility, this is the perfect place. Just recently, it has become one of the surfing destinations in the Philippines. Pagudpud is really one of the best vacation spots in the Philippines. This has been featured at Ilocos Times.
  • Bangui: The town has Wind Mills which were built by the NorthWind Power Development Corporation to reduce the emission of harmful greenhouse gases that cause global warming and to accelerate the rural electrification of the government. You’ll see there installed turbines along the shore facing the sea. The town is near Pagudpud.
  • Bacarra: The town has the Bacarra Bell Tower which is made up of coral blocks and stucco. It serves as a historical landmark of the painful sacrifices of the Bacarreños who rendered forced labor under the Spanish conquerors.
  • Laoag City: In a small barrio of Laoag City lies Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel, which is the only 5-star deluxe resort in northern Philippines. It has a very good architecture. It is a complete service complex resort hotel. It features good restaurants, a casino, a shopping complex, a shooting range, archery, paintball, and a variety of water sports.
  • Paoay: This town features Paoay Church and the Malacañang of the North overlooking Paoay Lake. These are some of the spots that you should not miss.
  • Batac: This is the hometown of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. You can see here the Marcos Museum that housed the memories of his reign. The museum used to be their house. He was raised in there, although he was born in Sarrat. The remains of the late president also lie here. After visiting the museum, you can have a tase of special empanada at the Riverside.

Other towns worth visiting include Dingras, Sarrat, Solsona, Badoc, San Nicolas, Banna, and Currimao. Every town has its own adventure to offer. While on your way to Ilocos Norte, you can also drop by at Pangasinan and go to100 Islands. Enjoy your travel!
