Roast Chestnuts in the OvenChestnuts are known to have a remarkable nutritional value.  They are clean, healthy, and they provide great nutrition compared to walnuts, hazelnuts, and other types of nuts.  But apart from the advantages they give, chestnuts actually signify the festive season. Households from any part of the world do not forget to include them on their list as they are always in season in December.  The holiday season is just around the corner and soon we’ll just be surprised that it’s already Christmas. So, are you all prepped up for your holiday festivities?  I know you are, but for some who are looking for additional recipes to sum up a cozy holiday and want to include chestnuts on their recipes, here is how to roast chestnuts in the oven.  Italian chestnuts or Chinese chestnuts, whatever they are, the easiest way to come up with a tasty treat is by roasting them in your oven toaster or microwave.  Excited?  Here’s how to do it.

How to Roast Chestnuts in the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Using a damp towel, wipe the chestnuts off and put them on a cutting board with the flat side down.
  3. With a knife, cut an X to each chest nut. Doing this will let the steam get away during cooking and this will also help you peel them easier.
  4. Now, put the chestnuts on a baking dish with the X cut facing up.
  5. Roast them at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes. Turn them over after about 10 minutes to make sure that it is roasted evenly.
  6. Serve the nuts hot by peeling them from their outer shell.  Since nuts are typically hand peeled, make sure that they are cool to handle to avoid burning your fingers. You may also want to serve them by dipping them in melted butter or whatever soothes your preference.
