embutidoEmbutido is a very popular dish to fiestas, social gatherings and other special occasions. It is usually wrapped in foil and is referred to as a Filipino style for meatloaf. Really Filipinos love to invent or discover different recipes that perfectly suit Panlasang Pinoy. They love cooking. It’s one of their favourite past times.
The whole family of mine loves embutido, especially my brothers. Having this on the dining table is a joy for everybody. That is the reason why I want to share it too. I wanna share the fun.

Ingredients for a delicious Embutido:

1 pound ground pork
½ cup carrots, finely chopped
1 cup ham, chopped
¼ cup raisins
½ cup pineapple
6 tablespoons, red and green bell pepper, minced
3 pcs. eggs
1/3 cup sweet pickle relish
½ cup cheese, grated
¼ cup banana catsup/ sweet chilli sauce
Salt
Pepper
Hard-boiled egg, sliced into strips
Vienna sausage, sliced into strips
Vegetable oil

Steps on how to cook Embutido:

1. In a cooking pan, heat oil, saute the onions til light brown.
2. Combine the ground pork, sweet pickle relish, crushed pineapple, raw eggs, carrots, sautéed onions, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl and them mix well.
3. Put 11/2 cups of the mixture on a sheet of foil and spread well. Add the sliced egg and sausages on top and at the edge, arrange in a fine manner. You then pull the end facing the side of the mixture and then roll. To fully enclose or seal the mixture inside the foil, fold each side.
4. Make the same step until all the mixture is wrapped. Pour in water on a pan. Arrange the rolls on a roasting rack. Put the rack on top of the roasting pan filled with water. Cook/ Steam over 400F and wait for about an hour.
5. Peel foil and fry the embutido rolls until all sides are light brown. Let it cool for around 4 minutes before slicing.

A delightful recipe cooked perfectly for your kids and the whole family. Share a happy meal with them. You can have embutido dipped in catsup or sweet chilli sauce for a more flavorful taste.
