Gunshot wounds are extremely shocking and it should be addressed as soon as possible since that condition can cause varying effects caused by the trauma more than any other injuries such as being cut deeply by a knife.  Once faced in the situation, it is always an order that the best treatment is to bring the patient to that nearest medical facility immediately. However, it might take some tome to do this option which is why basic first aid must be administered to preserve the victim for the meantime.  So, how do you go about treating the situation?  In this article we’ll give you some guidelines on how to administer first aid for bullet wounds.

Gunshot Wounds First Aid Treatment

The primary thing that the first aid responder should do is to check the victim’s vital signs by checking the consciousness level, respiration, and pulse.  The responder should tell the victim to stay awake no matter what.  If the patient is experiencing difficulty in breathing, you may have to give him rescue breathing.  In instances when the person has become unconscious yet pulse movement is present, give him CPR if you are a trained first aid provider from Red Cross or other medical institutions.

The next thing you have to do is to be certain to do ways on how you can halt the bleeding to avoid excessive blood loss.   To do this, you can elevate the area of affection in the level of the heart.  However, make sure that the patient doesn’t have injury to the bone or else you may fracture the patient more.  Another way to stop blood loss is to apply direct pressure on the gunshot wound.  Use cloths, gauze, towels, or even your hands to do this.  If bandages are available, then secure the wound with them in order for you to administer other fist aid for bullet wounds.  Finally, some sort of shock may occur since excessive blood loss is present.  To address this, apply first aid treatment for shock by elevating the person’s legs.
